In short

From the work permit to the Emirates ID in hand, count 2 to 4 weeks in a normal period. You leave your desk twice: the medical test and the biometrics. Everything else is us — filing, follow-up, chasing. Priced per case, on quote, depending on how many people are involved.

01Immigration and visas

A residence visa is not one formality, it is a chain of five. Each link has its own authority, and a file only moves when the previous one has cleared. The order below is the one that actually applies.

  1. 1Work permitMOHRE, via Tasheel
  2. 2Entry permitGDRFA
  3. 3Medical testDHA-approved centre
  4. 4BiometricsICP
  5. 5Visa and Emirates IDstamped, then the card
Work permit (MOHRE)

We build the employer file and file the work permit request through Tasheel.usually up to 5 working days

Entry permit (GDRFA)

The permit that lets your hire enter the country, or change status while already here.usually 2 to 4 working days

Medical test and Emirates ID

We book the medical slot and the biometrics appointment, then follow the ICP file until the card is issued.medical results 1 to 3 days · card 5 to 12 working days after biometrics

Residence visa

The stamp in the passport, or the e-visa, once the medical has cleared.usually 3 to 7 working days

Family sponsorship

Bringing your spouse and children under your own visa. A minimum basic salary applies — 4,000 AED, or 3,000 AED if your accommodation is provided.usually 5 to 15 working days

Visa cancellation

Someone leaves, changes employer, or the role closes. Cancelling properly is what protects you afterwards.work permit cancellation usually 2 working days

02Official documents

A foreign document has no value in Dubai until it has been through the chain. We take over at the UAE end — the part that happens here, at the counters.

MOFAIC attestation

Degree, marriage certificate, birth certificate: the final UAE stamp, without which a family visa or a school enrolment does not go through.usually 1 to 6 days including transport

Legal translation

Arabic translation by a translator sworn by the Ministry of Justice — required for most foreign documents filed with the authorities.

Notary, MOA and power of attorney

Bilingual drafting, notary appointment, signature and certification. What you need for a change of shareholder, or when you cannot be there yourself.

03Licence, company and the everyday

The part nobody warns you about: a licence is not filed once, it is maintained. Miss a renewal and everything downstream freezes — visas, bank, VAT.

Licence renewal

We check the Ejari, prepare the file and submit the renewal before the deadline.usually 1 to 2 working days once the file is complete

Licence amendment

Adding an activity, changing a shareholder, a manager, a name or an address. Remember the FTA has to be updated within 20 working days of the change.

Establishment card

The card that links your company to the immigration and labour systems. Without it, no employee visa exists.GDRFA usually 48 hours · MOHRE usually 2 working days

Contract, Tawjeeh and insurance

MOHRE contract signature, the Tawjeeh session, mandatory health insurance, and the documents your bank will ask for.

How it works

  1. 1We look at the fileYou tell us who needs a visa, or which document has to come out. We list what is missing and send a quote.
  2. 2We prepare itDocuments collected, translated and attested, forms filled. This is the step where files usually get lost.
  3. 3We file and follow upSubmission, status tracking, chasing. You get a point of progress at each stage cleared.
  4. 4You collectPassport, Emirates ID, licence, attested document — handed back to you at your desk, in your Oh My Desk space.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a residence visa take in Dubai?
Count 2 to 4 weeks from the MOHRE approval to the Emirates ID in hand. The work permit takes up to 5 working days, the entry permit 2 to 4, the visa stamp 3 to 7 after the medical. September and January are slower — everyone files at once.
How long after the biometrics does the Emirates ID arrive?
Usually 5 to 12 working days. You can track the status online. If it runs over, we chase the ICP for you rather than leaving you to call.
What salary do I need to sponsor my family?
A basic salary of at least 4,000 AED a month, or 3,000 AED if your employer provides accommodation. It is the basic salary on the attested contract that counts, not bonuses or allowances.
What happens when a visa is cancelled?
A 60-day grace period runs to leave the country or obtain a new visa — longer for some Golden Visa holders. After that, daily fines apply, which is why a cancellation should never be left half-done.
Do I have to get my degree or marriage certificate attested?
For most steps, yes: family visa, some work permits, school enrolment. A foreign document goes through its country of origin and the UAE embassy first, then MOFAIC here. We take over at the UAE end.
What visa and licence services does Oh My Desk handle?
Three families: MOHRE work permits, residence visas with Emirates ID, and trade licences with the establishment card — handled end to end by our team in Dubai.
Do I need an office to get a trade licence?
You need a registered address: our Virtual Office & Ejari package (AED 9,000 per year at Downtown) satisfies the DET requirement without renting a physical office.
Can you handle the whole process for my team?
Yes — from the entry permit to the Emirates ID in hand, including medical and biometrics appointments; you follow each step without queueing at any counter.
How do I get a quote?
Write to contact@ohmydesk.com or call +971 4 304 4222 with your situation (nationality, role, licence type); you get a clear all-in quote — no surprise fees.
Why go through a coworking operator rather than an agent?
Because the address, the office and the paperwork live in one place: licence, Ejari, visas and your workspace advance together, with one team accountable for the whole file.

The processing times on this page are orders of magnitude drawn from the official portals below, not commitments: a file depends on its own contents and on the time of year. Rules change — check the date before you rely on them.
